The DJ Academy

Summer DJ Camp in Kamloops

5-day beginner-friendly DJ camp for kids and teens

Learn to DJ in a real studio this summer

The DJ Academy Summer Camp is a hands-on, high-energy music experience for youth who want to learn how DJs mix music, use professional equipment, build confidence, and have fun in a creative environment.

Over five days, students are introduced to the foundations of DJing in a way that is exciting, structured, and beginner-friendly. Campers learn the basics of controllers and mixers, cueing, beatmatching, phrasing, transitions, track selection, performance flow, and DJ etiquette.

This is not a passive music camp. Every student gets direct practice time, coaching, and the chance to build real skills on DJ gear in a boutique small-group format.

Who's it for

Level 1 Summer DJ Camp is ideal for kids (going into grade 5-8 in September 2026) who are curious about DJing, beginners with little or no experience, students interested in music, performance, rhythm, or technology, and creative kids looking for something different than a standard summer camp.

We’ll also introduce you to digital DJing with a look at the latest software. We’ll compare the positives and negatives of both approaches and examine how to integrate the skills of each.  By the end of the week we’ll have you beat matching, and blending your first 3 – 4 song set. This course is also a good way figure out the best equipment for you before making an investment.

What students learn

Campers are introduced to DJ equipment basics, how songs are structured, counting beats and phrasing, cueing and track prep, basic beat-matching concepts, smooth transitions, intro to set building, performance habits, and music discovery.

Why parents choose it

Families are choosing smaller, more intentional summer experiences. This camp keeps the group small, gives students direct time on real gear, and balances fun with genuine skill-building. It is designed to feel exciting without feeling chaotic.

End-of-week mini showcase

At the end of the week, families are invited to a short mini showcase so students can share what they learned and celebrate their progress in a supportive environment.
